Aluminium Polishing

Polished Aluminium is very common on motorcycles and cars. We also see a lot on retail displays, marine applications and coffee pots.

How to polish aluminium? Well the simple answer or the secret to getting it to look good is smoothing out the surface. Removing lumps and bumps, casting artefacts and sculpting the shape to create better highlights and less distortion in reflections. We achieve this by using very strong abrasives and then slowly working through the different grit abrasives to a very fine grade of sand paper or Scotchbrite pad or wheel.

This Audi door mirror was sanded up to 1000 grit before we used a buffing wheel.

Aluminium polishing isn’t time consuming, but the surface you want to polish might not be smooth enough or flat enough to look good. All aspects of the surface need to be considered if you want a high quality visual result.
